Tavisha and Rikki Simons were guest judges for the Anime Expo 2010 Manga Contest. While they sorted through the very impressive stack of manga entries, they signed autographs and visited with fans relaxing in the Manga Lounge.
One very nervous young lady (visibly shaking with utter joy at seeing Rikki) asked him to draw Gir, the character he voices in the cartoon Invader Zim.
Tavisha draws and Rikki is a voice actor (he does the shading/coloring for their art) so I thought it was amusing she asked him to draw Gir (Jhonen Vasquez's cartoon). Of course after he finished a rather impressive rendering of his character, I said I needed one, too!
So, he drew me a Gir, and now I have my first voice actor's rendering of the character he plays for my collection. And yes, he did draw right off the paper (as noted by his wife when he did it).
